Need a hand finding your missing link?

When you’re searching for your biological family or a missing family member, it can feel like every question leads to three more … And another dead end.

And all those questions can leave you feeling stuck, fragmented, incomplete.

If you feel like you’re alone, out on a limb of your family tree and don’t know where else to turn, I can give you a hand to start uncovering your roots.

I’m DNA Davis (aka Carla Davis).

I’m here to be your helping hand on this powerful, life-altering journey of (re)tracing your roots to help to complete the picture of who you are through genetic testing and genealogical research.

I discovered my own biological identity through DNA detective work, and it turned into a passion for helping others as a Genetic Gumshoe. I approach your family mystery with deep compassion, knowledge, and a tenacity that will stop at nothing to help you (re)connect with your family.

Let's (re)discover your roots.

If you’ve come to the end of your rope searching for your biological family member(s), I can help you unravel your DNA strands to find answers.

As a genetic genealogist, I use modern DNA tests and traditional genealogy to help adoptees and people of unknown parentage identify biological relatives both living and deceased.

There is no charge to work with me — think of me as your own personal dna detective on the case! The only cost to you is for the DNA kit(s), and we have a fund to help people with financial hardship with the cost of the DNA kit(s) as well.

To apply to work with me, all you need to do is fill out an application. Because I’m only one person, I work with people on a first-come, first-served basis. Each case is different, and while some mysteries are solved quickly, others can take time. Once I receive your application, I will let you know how soon we can begin work together.

Once we start our search, I’ll analyze the significance of your DNA matches, determine your next steps, start mapping out your genetic family tree, and help search for additional family members for additional testing.

Who I can help.

If you are an adoptee or a person with one or both parents unknown, and you have taken a DNA test with, you are a perfect candidate!

After you submit your application, we’ll get on a 30-minute phone call so that I can learn about the goals of your search, what steps you’ve already taken, and try to determine the significance of your existing DNA matches. Then we map out a plan for the next steps in your search and see how I can partner with you to get to the bottom of your mystery.

Who I can't help.

Unfortunately, I can only help adoptees themselves — they have to be the one looking. Birth parents and siblings of adoptees can leave behind a trail by taking DNA tests at all testing sites like 23andMe, Ancestry, Family Tree DNA, and My Heritage, and then uploading those results to GEDmatch. If the adoptee is also searching, this will immediately link you to them in the DNA results.

Original Birth Certificate.

"It’s an amazing feeling when after thirty-six years of searching, you get the pieces of the puzzle and can finally see the big picture. I now know where I come from thanks to Carla Davis. Her knowledge of DNA and the Pennsylvania law made it possible for me to receive a non-certified copy of my original birth certificate, which listed both names of my biological parents. I couldn’t have done this without Carla’s experience and hard work."

- Rob McKinnell, 47 years old

Made Magic Happen.

"Being an adoptee, I had a horrible hole in my heart that I lived with for seventy-three years. I often wondered, “Who am I,” but thanks to Carla I now know. She took me under her wing and made magic happen when she used DNA to connect the dots and find my birth family. My uncle once told me, nothing is hidden, you just need to know which rock to turn over. Carla knows the rocks to turn over."

- Ann Patterson, 73 years old

A Full Family Tree.

"As soon as my DNA results posted, Carla immediately identified my paternal great-great-grandparents. She even discovered actual pictures. Through her unique process, she found my birth family. I now have a full family tree traced back to the early 1800’s and six half-siblings that I’m getting to know. None of this would have been possible without Carla and her knowledge of DNA."

- Dawn Harris, 45 years old

Quickly Analyzed Results.

"In a short amount of time, Carla was able to quickly analyze the DNA results of an adoptee I was helping and provide me with initial surnames. To establish common ancestors among matches, she created a mirror tree, which gave me a clear path to follow. I was impressed to see the end result match up with Carla’s initial work. I couldn’t have gotten as far as I did without her know how."
